Duties
Preparing, mixing, cutting and shaping dough
Monitoring, cooking and cooling times
Preparing sweet and savoury pastry and dough fillings, rolling out pastry and creating a variety of baked goods

Bakers and pastry chefs working in a commercial environment are responsible for preparing cakes, pastries, breads and biscuits. They mix ingredients according to recipes and shape and fill products as needed.
Bakers and pastry chefs are usually required to work early morning shifts and must follow food health and safety standards. They can be employed in a commercial kitchen, patisserie, bakery or cafe. They may also be self-employed.
