This is a great long term career path in a secure industry.  We have a 3 year Australian Apprenticeship (Traineeship) in Certificate III Arboriculture (tree surgeon/tree climbing).

 

Training includes the safe use of all machinery and equipment, front end loader, rigging (mechanical winch), chainsaws, some elevated work platforms and cranes.  Other duties and training include:

  • Climbing trees
  • Tree care/removal
  • Pest and disease control/consultation
  • Driving truck (may obtain MR licence)
  • Learn to use ropes
  • Trim and shape/pruning of trees
  • Stump removal

 

Most work is in the Northern Suburbs.  This is on residential and some commercial premises.  Wages are paid under the National Training Wage.  Must be fit for physical work. Hours are Monday – Friday 7am – 3.30pm. Some overtime may be required.  Rostered days off.

 

  • Drivers Licence and transport preferred
  • Whitecard required
  • 3 years on the job including 18 months at TAFE

 

No TAFE fees and attendance is paid work time.
