Sef’s Story
Sef is a quiet, hard-working, reliable, team player who likes to complete tasks to a high degree of accuracy and quality. He applied for a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (warehousing) with a resume and cover letter outlining his strengths. He played representative Rugby Union and completed Year 12. Seth previously worked in warehousing, landscaping and concrete labouring.
When Sef applied for the role he was working casually and wanted to explore full-time work and study. His resume listed the following: an Australian driver licence, white card and own vehicle. Sef correctly identified the essential criteria for the role. He then went on to describe his skills: worker with proven ability to perform a variety of tasks, including maintenance, customer service, repair and special projects. Ability to multitask, work independently and within teams in fast-paced, high volume environments. Skilled in operating basic hand tools. Excellent work performance and attendance record. Dedicated to serving individuals with special needs with utmost respect and consideration. Deep passion to help guide clients.
Sef was successful in gaining the traineeship and joined the team at Wallaby Crash Supplies. He took time to learn the tasks and get to know his fellow workers. Some of his duties include: mixing paint, printing certificate of currency for aviation and marine industries as required, shipping orders, learning the products, picking orders, assisting customers, loading up drivers, checking run sheets, maintaining the freight book for regional orders/deliveries, ensuring Work Health and Safety procedures are adhered to and keeping the warehouse clean and tidy.
Sef consistently demonstrated an excellent work ethic and attitude. He was offered the opportunity to attend other courses and the use of company equipment and vehicles. His manager at Wallaby Crash Supplies acknowledged Sef is “switched on, learns quickly, takes initiative, is likeable and works well with the team. He does not just stand around. Sef is also able to step up when the supervisor is away or busy”.
Sef commenced the traineeship a bit unsure if it was the right fit for him; he was not really sure about the study aspect and was quiet and shy. Sixteen months since commencing the traineeship Sef was able to show a strong work ethic, commitment to his study and developed a great rapport with all staff and customers. He has gained a lot of respect for the relationships he has developed and the quality of his work.
On completion of the traineeship Sef gained a full-time position with Wallaby Crash Supplies. He is a valued member of the team and well liked by his colleagues and customers alike.
