  • Sophia - Commercial Cookery

Sophia finished school on the Gold Coast in 2012 not sure where her career options would take her. She took a holiday on completion of Year 12 and on returning to the Gold Coast answered an ad for a 1st year Commercial Cookery apprentice. In April 2013 Sophia commenced with her host the Courthouse Hotel Southport Queensland.
Sophia’s only previous experience with food was helping her mother cook for the family at home. She saw the apprenticeship as a way to combine a career in this industry with her other passion – art.
Sophia’s TAFE teacher reported that Sophia is one of her top students. She has passed the 1st stage of her course with flying colours as she shows her flair for creating original dishes combined with stunning presentation.
Sophia’s role at the 150 seat restaurant includes preparation and running of the cold larder section as well as participating in the delivery of entrée at serving time.
Sophia’s dream is to open her own health retreat with a focus on providing gourmet nutritional food.
